Build Your Backbend Series

August 11&18 and September 8&15, 9am-10:30am

at Yoga and the Beach Studio (1800 Sir Tyler Dr, Wilmington, NC)

Spine is the central part of our body and nervous system and its health directly affects the well-being of all our systems.

Backbending practice is a great way to strengthen the back while opening the front side of the body to support the spine - when done correctly.

In this series of 4 workshops we will explore each component of a healthy and strong backbend deeper.

This workshop is for you if

  • you want to deepen your backbend and learn new variations of the asanas

  • you have lots of fear, experience anxiety or pain when practicing backbends and want to let go of these feelings and start enjoying instead.

You will learn

  • dynamic warm-ups to prepare the body for safe backbending practice

  • the mechanics of various backbends (with modifications and progressions)

  • how to actually enjoy backbends and practice without pain

  • breathing techniques to support your backbend

  • drills to build strength in your back, legs and shoulders

  • deep stretches to increase flexibility through the body

  • partner assists

  • useful tips for sustainable self-practice

Am I too beginner to join this workshop?

  • NO! I’m giving modifications and progressions for all levels. We will be using a lot of props too. AND if you learn all the tips I’m teaching right away, you may never experience fear at all.
